What Are Team Sports?
Team sports are types of sports where individuals are organized into opposing teams which compete to win. Success in team sports typically depends on teamwork, coordination, and strategy, rather than just individual performance.
Examples of Team Sports
- Soccer (Football): Played between two teams of eleven players, aiming to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team's net.
- Basketball: Two teams of five players each try to score points by shooting a ball through the opponent's hoop.
- Volleyball: Two teams of six players are separated by a net, trying to ground the ball on the opponent's court.
- Cricket: Two teams of eleven players compete in batting and fielding to score the most runs.
- Hockey (Field/Ice): Two teams use sticks to hit a ball or puck into the opponent's goal.
- Rugby: Teams try to carry or kick a ball over the opponent's goal line to score points.
- Baseball: Two teams take turns batting and fielding, aiming to score runs by circling bases.
- Handball: Teams of seven players pass and throw a ball to score in the opposing team's goal.
These are just a few examples—many other sports, such as water polo, lacrosse, and American football, are also considered team sports.
