Alternative medicine refers to a broad range of medical therapies, practices, and products that are not typically considered part of conventional or mainstream healthcare. These practices are used in place of, or alongside, standard medical treatments. Alternative medicine may include therapies such as herbal remedies, acupuncture, chiropractic care, homeopathy, naturopathy, and traditional healing systems (e.g., Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine).
When alternative medicine is used together with conventional medicine, it is often called complementary medicine. The term "integrative medicine" is sometimes used to describe a coordinated approach that combines both conventional and alternative methods.
